TerraVin 2013 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is drinking well. This was a a moderate yielding vintage with a good flowering that was backed up by a classic Marlborough summer.
Low bunch numbers ensured good concentration and plenty of warmth delivered beautifully ripe grapes with a good natural balance of acid, pH and alcohol.

Deep, golden-yellow colour, a little lighter on rim. The nose is full with deeply concentrated aromas of ripe yellow and green stonefruits along with grapefruit and lime marmalade in a decadent amalgam of honey, harmoniously integrated with nutty oak and herbal elements. Very sweet to taste, rich and opulently luscious flavours of tropical and ripe green stonefruits are entwined with honey, marmalade and nutty flavours. The mouthfeel is decadent and unctuous, with real presence and weight. A fine line of acidity is at the core of the palate, providing fresh relief to the near overwhelming sweetness and the wine flows to a rounded, nectar-like, lingering finish. This is an opulent, unctuous, botrytised Sauvignon Blanc dessert wine with flavours of tropical fruit, honey and marmalade. Match with caramel, baked and fruit desserts, with blue cheese or instead of a liqueur over the next 7-9 years. 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the ‘TerraVin Hillside Vineyard’ with full botrytis infection, picked over two tries, barrel fermented to 9.2% alc. and 259 g/L RS, TA 11.5 g/L and pH 3.53, the wine aged 6 months in 100% new oak barrels. 19.0-/20 Feb 2015

The 2013 vintage was mostly handled in tanks, but 20 per cent of the blend was fermented in old French oak casks. Mouthfilling and dry, it is fresh and ripe, with strong melon, capsicum and spice flavours, showing a touch of complexity, and good texture and depth.
