Gold in Brisbane
Highfield Sauvignon Blanc 2006 has won a gold medal at the Brisbane Fine Wine Festival. Held from the 5th – 7th July 2007 the festival ran for three days allowing consumers and trade alike to sniff, swirl, taste, and enjoy their way around some of the best wines Australasia had to offer. Highfield won the only gold medal awarded to a sauvignon blanc. This success marks Highfield Sauvignon Blanc’s 8th consecutive year to win gold.

Al Notes - Pruning
"There has been a lot of media recently about staff pruning shortages in Marlborough. While this is a major issue, many gangs are working seven days a week to get through and our Highfield vineyard is set to be pruned next week. It’s a crucial part of the season and one that we’re not intending to rush".

Cellar Door Profile
Claudia Yanez received an honors pass in agriculture engineering and then went on to complete a post graduate diploma in viticulture and oenology in her home country Chile. After 6 years of university study Claudia was ready to get stuck into the real world and worked vintages in Chile, California and Australia before settling in Marlborough with her Kiwi husband and two beautiful daughters in 2004. Claudia has a fantastic background, working closely with wine. Her passion is sharing, selling and promoting fine wines and she finds hosting and dealing with people a real pleasure. Claudia cheerfully and proficiently guides visitors through wine tastings at Highfield’s cellar door. Claudia can also be found playing volley ball, reading, dancing and having picnics at Picton’s Shelly Beach with her family. Highfield has become a close knit culture over the last few years. Claudia’s husband Mike is one of Highfield’s assistant winemakers. This makes them the third couple working together at Highfield. Some call this incestuous, we call it friendly.
Hospitality NZ
Hospitality NZ is the pre-eminent hospitality industry event. Held in Auckland it is one event, over three days, with five individual shows incorporating: Wine New Zealand, NZ Culinary Fare, NZ Bar Show, Hospitality show, and Telecom Seminars. Over 160 wineries with over 2000 wines will attend Wine New Zealand this year. Pre-register at $15 per day, come taste the largest range of wines in New Zealand and meet the winemakers. Art Exhibition
Jim Tannock is a freelance photographer based in Marlborough. Jim specialises in natural, available-light photography with a passion for Marlborough's landscape. His latest exhibition is opening at Highfield on Friday 14th September. Works will be displayed at the winery until late November.
