Highfield Media Releases

Now For the Dry, Toasty Style

Elstree 1999 released

After seven years at Highfield Estate, winemaker Alistair Soper finally gets to see his first prestige sparkling wine on the market. Highfield has established something of a niche reputation for its extremely classy, dry, toasty bottle fermented wines labeled Elstree, but because of its desire to have long maturation on secondary less, the wines take time to be ready for release.
The 1999 has just made it onto the market, and Alistair for one is very happy, as well he should be. This one is a ripper.
Source: Marlborough
Variety: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay
Type: Dry, white sparkling
Closure: Cork
Organic: No
Smells deliciously bready/toasty and is full of life and silky texture. Mature, toasty, soy sauce-like characters throughout, and the finish is very dry and long. Elegant, sustained wine with a little tickle of bitterness at the very end.
